Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy massage is a deeply relaxing form of massage using a medium of aromatic essential oils diluted in carrier oil.  For your first massage there will be a consultation and I will discuss with you the conditions you want to be taken into account when selecting the essential oils for your massage.

The chosen blend will then be massaged into the body, so that the essential oils can be absorbed gradually to do their work.  It is a deeply therapeutic experience, promoting both deep relaxation and the therapeutic effects of the essential oils, such as invigoration, comfort, decongestant, calming, soothing etc.  A full body massage will focus on the whole body, however this can easily be customised according to your needs, for example you may just want a back, neck and shoulder massage, or a facial.  Clients comment that they feel wonderfully relaxed afterwards and ready to face anything.

You will receive a full consultation prior to your first treatment.

Reflexology

Reflexology is a holistic therapy and works on the whole body, including the mind, spirit and emotions. It is believed that reflexology may work on the underlying problem or cause of the symptom and not the actual symptom.  Using the feet and hands, the reflexes in the feet are stimulated with the nerve endings in the feet being located through a specific form of massage with the thumb and fingers.  This can help to relieve tension and have a calming and soothing effect through the whole of the body.  The session is subtle using a variety of precise techniques, which, when applied may help to determine which areas of the body are congested or out of balance.

Clients sometimes report that their feet feel sensitive, bruised, tender and even gritty during a treatment and they feel really relaxed but revitalised.  Reflexology may help a wide range of health problems such as breathing and sleep disorders, skin and digestive conditions, ear disorders, stress and anxiety, fertility issues and many others.

It is also extremely beneficial to those simply wishing to look after their long-term health, or who would like spend some time on themselves relaxing and unwinding after a stressful day at work or with the kids.

Hopi Ear Candling

The Hopi Ear Candle is not a candle as such, but a hollow tube made out of cotton flax. To stiffen the flax, the extract of honey and herb oils (in particular chamomile, sage and St Johns wort) are absorbed into the flax, the theraprutic healing properties of which have been known to the Hopi tribe for hundreds of years.  The making of the candles is a complex process and all genuine Hopi Ear Candles are made in the traditional manner.

The therapy is very gentle and relaxing and may take up to 45 minutes.  The lighted candle is placed over the ear orifice and it held by myself.  It is only allowed to burn to within 4 inches of the end of the candle.  As it burns it produces a lovely gentle heat.  The warm air combined with the oil and herbs soften the wax and move it so that it comes out more easily of its own accord.  The warm vacuum it creates as it burns down also helps to draw out any congestion and impurities which helps to clear and blockages.  The candle is then removed and then repeated on the other side with a new candle.  The ear, face and scalp is then massaged paying particular attention to the sinus areas.

Please note the treatment does not take out earwax.

Ear candles can help with  ear problems and can help to soothe headaches and migraines.  This therapy is also extremely relaxing, soothing and calming.  As well as the relieved feeling that comes from reduced pressure in the ears and sinuses.

It is not suitable for those with perforated eardrums, where grommets are in place, those with a current or recent ear infection or those who may have an allergy to the ingredients.  It is a safe and gentle treatment for children.

Anyone who is receiving medical treatment for any ear condition should always consult their doctor first.
