This course is taught as an online course.

This Level 3 Certificate in Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology (VTCT Awarding Body) training course is  comprehensive and practical. This vastly interesting course will provide you with knowledge of each body system within the body giving you the experience and knowledge of anatomy and physiology required to take your therapy business forward.

This course provides credits and units that are mapped to National Occupational Standards.  It is recognised by the main professional bodies including Federation of Holistic Therapists who provide insurance cover, advice and information and continuing educational programmes.

After graduating you will be able to apply for membership to this governing body and others as well as the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) – the UK’s complementary health register.

As an independent training school, we are not dependent on government funding, we understanding the training requirements necessary to become a competent, practicing, professional complementary therapist.  We can be flexible in our training methods and therefore respond accordingly to individual student needs.

All courses are personally taught by myself, Christina Lyne, an experienced Complementary Therapist and trainer in complementary therapies.   



Course Description

You should set aside approximately five hours per week to work on home assignments.  We provide a recommended reading list at the beginning of the course and you will have exclusive access to our secure student area on this website.  

This course is taught online through module workbooks, manual and recorded module teaching webinar.  There is an online assessment (2 papers) at the end of the course.



Course Content

  • Knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology for Complementary Therapies

This unit includes:

Understanding the Organisation of the body, The Skin, Hair & Nails, The Skeletal System, The Muscular System, The Nervous System, The Endocrine System, The Respiratory System, The Cardiovascular System, The Lymphatic System, The Digestive System, The Urinary System and The Reproductive System.

This course is taught online as fortnightly online modules including module workbooks, manual and recorded module teaching webinar – one for each body system.

Teaching Methods

The educational aims are to develop the in-depth knowledge and skill required to provide safe and effective treatments.

The following methods are used:

  • Lectures and visual aids in the classroom and online.
  • Detailed demonstrations and practice of techniques.
  • Detailed handouts and workbooks for each student.
  • Open discussion periods with course tutor and access to a facebook group to post questions.
  • Monitored home assignments.
  • Continuous assessment by course tutor of the development of personal qualities required of a professional practitioner.
  • All course material will be available to the student through the website student area.
Evidence of Achievement

You will be required to show achievement of a range of relevant learning outcomes and assessment.

  • Portfolio of evidence
  • Online Assessment (2 papers)

You will prepare, under the guidance of the course tutor, a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate that you have covered the syllabus and achieved all the required learning outcomes.

Entrance Requirements

Applicants must be 19 years or over.  No other formal qualifications are necessary.
