Best essential oils for Itchy Bug Bites

The following six essential oils can really help with bug bite relief this is because they all have antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties that make them soothing to the skin.

Lavender
Just like lavender oil can help calm the minds before bedtime, it can be relaxing and rejuvenating for the skin too by minimising swelling and optimize healing as well as being a natural disinfectant.

Tea tree
Tea tree essential oil is a great choice to support anti-itching and anti-swelling and fights germs.

Peppermint
The cooling rush of peppermint is a quick salve for hot, itchy bites, and its invigorating scent can also help boost alertness and act as a quick pick-me-up.

Chamomile
Chamomile has soothing and anti-inflammatory effects on skin.

Eucalyptus
Like peppermint, eucalyptus is cooling, and its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties make it a popular choice for topical application.

Basil
A less obvious pick for bites, basil also has antimicrobial anti-inflammatory properties and is known to be a natural insecticide.

Lavender and Tea Tree are two essential oils which you can put straight onto the bite so put a drop on the end of a cotton bud and apply to the bite.

The rest of the oils do not put neat onto the bite. Add one drop to 3mls of olive oil or a body lotion or cream and apply to the bite as needed. These are all fantastic oils to be using but the best ones I think are Lavender or Tea Tree because you can put them neat on the bite!

You can find these essential oils in the Aromalyne Shop.
